KABUL (Pajhwok): A number of unsuccessful Kuchi tribe Wolesi Jirga candidates on Thursday welcomed amendments to the electoral law and the dismissal of commissioners.
At a protest gathering in Kabul, about 30 candidates, while welcoming the presidential decree, said 75 percent votes of the Kuchis were ‘ghost’.
Syed Mohammad Hariq, one of the candidates, said widespread rigging had happened in the Kuchi constituency compared to others, and thus unacceptable to them.
He accused members of the central and provincial election commissions of accepting bribes to increase votes of candidates, adding he had enough documents to prove his claims.
He said they would not accept the results until transparent votes were separated from fraudulent ones.
Inayatullah Sehrai, another candidate, welcomed the president’s move of bringing changes to the electoral law and removal of the commissioners and urged the Attorney General Office to prosecute all the ousted commissioners.
The final results from 18 provinces have been announced but from the Kuchi constituency are yet to be declared.
