KABUL (Pajhwok): The Jamiat-i-Islami Afghanistan (JIA) council, led by Syed Ibrahim Emmad, has demanded the announcement of presidential election’s preliminary result and peace talks to be Afghan-led and supervised under the existing system.
Addressing reporters here, Ammad said their council wanted prompt announcement of the preliminary election results because most of economic activities such as construction, businesses and others had been stopped due to uncertainty created by the election deadlock, which could be overcome with announcement of the preliminary result.
He said few individuals for their personal interest did not allow the vote recount and instead preferred crisis.
“Our demand is don’t disturb the environment and don’t confront yourselves with the nation.”
Peace Talks
Emmad stressed intra-Afghan talks which should be held under the supervision of current system and demanded that Zamlay Khalilzad, US negotiator, should talk to real representatives of people during peace talks.
He added JIA leadership was ready to support peace talks under the supervision of the current republic system and in complete coordination with them and other political forces.
