SAR-I-PUL CITY (Pajhwok): Some government servants in three districts of northern Sar-i-Pul province have not received their salaries over the past few months due to highway insecurity, officials said on Tuesday.
The New Kabul Bank branch in Sancharak district, where government officials received their salaries, was closed two years back. Over the past few months, salaries could not be taken to Gosfandi, Sancharak and Suzma Qala districts due to insecurity.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The newly-appointed governor for northern Sar-i-Pul province on Saturday pledged to improve the law and order situation with the support of people and central government.
During a ceremony held in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province, Mohammad Zahir Wahdat said he was fully aware of security situation and other issues existed in Sar-i-Pul and was mentally and physically prepared to handle the prevailing situation there.

SAR-I-PUL CITY (Pajhwok): Thousands of people, with some carrying weapons, on Wednesday rallied in central Sar-i-Pul province in a show of support for Afghan security forces.
Some 6,000 people, including lawmakers, government officials and residents attended the rally in Sar-i-Pul city, the provincial capital.
Mohammad Azim Qoyash, a lawmaker from Sar-i-Pul province, said: “We don’t consider Taliban as brothers because all of them are puppets of Pakistan who want to implement a foreign agenda in Afghanistan.”

SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): The Taliban are locked in an intense battle with security forces for the Kohistanat district of central Sar-i-Pul province, a public representative said on Saturday.
The insurgents had besieged the district centre following coordinated attacks from four sides, provincial council member Asadullah Khurrami told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the roads leading to Kohistanat, which the Taliban seized for several days earlier this year, had been closed and communications lines disrupted as a result of fighting.
