QALAT (Pajhwok): The residents of southern Zabul province have demanded the Independent Election Commission (IEC) and the government to increase the number of polling stations in the province in order to facilitate all people to exercise the right of vote in upcoming presidential election.
According to the residents, polling stations established in the recent elections were not enough and people could not access them or in most of the districts there were one or two polling stations.

The council has performed well during the last one year and been able to develop close relations with residents, within the body and with government entities.

QALAT (Pajhwok): Ghazni residents on Saturday set free 14 persons they had abducted from southern Zabul province following mediation of elders, a public representative said.
The abductees, hailing from Khak-i-Afghan district of Zabul, were kidnapped by some people of Jaghori district of Ghazni last week to avenge the abduction of 30 people from their area last year.

QALAT (Pajhwok): Passengers and residents of southern Zabul province on Tuesday urged the reconstruction of the Kandahar-Kabul highway, saying most of deadly traffic accidents resulted the lousy condition of the road.
Roadside bombings, natural disasters and heavy trucks had extensively damaged the road, which witnesses accidents with a disturbing frequency. Passengers believe the highway’s reconstruction would help reduce such mishaps.

QALAT (Pajhwok): Wolesi Jirga or lower house of parliament member Hamidullah Tokhi escaped unhurt in Taliban’s attack in southern Zabul province on Tuesday, but one of his guards was killed and two others wounded, an official said.
Governor Spokesman Gul Islam Syal told Pajhwok Afghan News the attack was carried out in the limits of Shah-i-Safa district on Zabul-Kandahar road.
The lawmaker’s son Abdul Wasi confirmed his father survived Taliban’s ambush, but one of his bodyguards had been killed and two others wounded in gunfire.
