FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): The voter registration process for the presidential election in Badakhshan province has been lackadaisical, officials said on Friday.
The sluggish process was linked to the remote location of voter registration centres from residential areas and hard-to-travel roads.
Election officials say more than 70,000 individuals have been registered across the country as voters since the launch of the drive 12 days ago.

FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): The inspection and recount of votes of 60 polling stations in northeastern Badakhshan province have been kicked off in coordination with the Independent Election Commission (IEC), officials said on Sunday.
Hameedullah Sadaat, head of the regional Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC), told Pajhwok Afghan News they received complaints from 60 polling stations situated in Urgo, Yawan, Kesham and Yafal districts and Faizabad, the provincial capital.

FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Residents of northeastern Badakhshan province said missing of names from voter lists, too many observers and no knowledge about biometrics use hugely challenged the voting process there.
Some women and men who were standing in long queues, said the too many candidates’ observers faced the election process with a huge challenge in the province.

FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): A Wolesi Jirga runner from northeastern Badakhshan province has survived a gun attack that left three policemen injured, an official said on Monday.
Police spokesman Sanaullah Rohani told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in the Juram district of the province late on Sunday night.
He said Zalmay Mujaddedi came under attack from unidentified gunmen on the way to his campaign office in Changha village. The candidate escaped unhurt but three policemen were wounded.
