PARAKH (Pajhwok): Some residents of central Panjshir province say despite initial optimism the provincial council has failed to deliver on promises and render satisfactory services.
The result from the April 5 provincial council elections was announced after a seven-month delay due to the deadlocked presidential vote.
Based on the results, Maulvi Syed Yahya Anabi, Mullah Mohammad Faizi, Wahidullah Dajhkohi, Najibullah Yaqubi, Azmuddin Mirzaee, Abdul Samad Sultani, Qalandar Khan Bahaduri, Rahela Ataee, and Wida Saeedi won seats on the Panjshir council.

Located 120 kilometres to the northeast of Kabul, Panjsher is a mountainous province alongside the Hindukush Mountainswith several sub valleys.
The province is located 22,117 metreshigh from sea level, with its highest peak is estimated at 6,000 metres.
There are many natural resources in Panjsher such as gems, metal, marbles and other materials used in construction.

The provincial council elections were held on April 5, but the results were announced after seven months delay. Five of the 10 members on the council are new faces aged between 32 and 37 years.

Hasib Mowahid, a resident of Koraba district, told Pajhwok Afghan News he was happy that young and enterprising public representatives had been able to find their way to the council.

The first round of the presidential election was held on April 5 and the runoff on June 14, but the process is yet to be finalised, causing economic problems and insecurity in the country.
People urged the incoming head of state to tackle the problems being faced by them and put the country on path to development, prosperity and stability.

PARAKH/SHARANA/ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Massive turnout was reported in Panjsher, Paktika and Kunar provinces, where most polling stations stayed open on the election day, officials said on Saturday.
