LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Presidential ballot will not take place in six districts of southern Helmand province due to insecurity, an official said on Wednesday.
Shabbir Ahmad Hamid, provincial Independent Election Commission head, in an exclusive interview told Pajhwok Afghan News that election would not take place in Nawzad, Washir, Sangeen, Desho, Musa Qala and Khanshin districts.
“Sticker attachment process was also remained undone due to insecurity.” He said.

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): A number of Wolesi Jirga candidates from southern Helmand province on Saturday erected a protest tent in front of the Independent Election Commission (IEC), asking the government to recount the votes of the province by election workers from another province.

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) in southern Helmand province received 350 complaints mostly against the Independent Election Commission (IEC) during Wolesi Jirga elections.

 

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): A resident of the Greshk district in southern Helmand province on Wednesday accused Taliban militants of cutting off his index finger for voting in the recent Wolesi Jirga polls.
Hazfizullah, who is being treated at the Bost hospital, told Pajhwok Afghan News he was on his way from Greshk district to Kandahar province when Taliban militants took him hostage.

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): A Wolesi Jirga runner Abdul Jabar Qahraman was killed and his seven supporters wounded as a result of bomb blast in southern Helmand province on Wednesday, officials said.
Omar Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast took place inside Qahraman’s office during election campaign in limits of 1st police district at around 10am.
He said Qahraman was killed and seven others wounded after the explosives hidden in his sofa went off.
