MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): Residents and public representatives say the voter registration campaign is yet to be extended to remote parts of northern Samangan province a result of road blockades.
Provincial council member Ahmad Ali Shah Tamaski told Pajhwok Afghan News on Monday there were several areas located far from registration centres and roads leading to some villages had been closed.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF/AIBAK (PAN): Twenty-seven workers have been killed during an explosion inside a coalmine in northern Samangan province, officials said on Sunday.
Five people have been missing and 30 others trapped in the mine in Ravi Do Aab district since Saturday's blast, the deputy police chief for Samangan said.

AYBAK (PAN): Samangan residents say they will take part in the upcoming elections with enthusiasm.

Nasreenah, a resident of Hazrat Sultan district said her husband was martyred during Jihad against Soviet forces. She has two daughters and three sons.

AYBAK (PAN): Residents of Samangan complained the province was facing acute shortage of irrigation water and lack of school buildings.
They said people elsewhere in the province were confronting with years old potable water problem that could not be resolved after repeated complaints.
Mohammadullah, a resident of Afghania Village in Hazrat Sultan district told Pajhwok News Agency they could not cultivate their vast land due to lack of irrigation water.

MAZAR-e-Sharif (PAN): Residents of Samangan province demanded the government should ensure provision of drinking water facility and construction of highways to connect districts of the province.
They said roads of six districts connected with the provincial capital were needed to be graveled. Residents of some districts were facing immense problems in reaching to the provincial capital who used the long Mazar-e-Sharif route to make it to the capital of the province.

MAZAR-e-Sharif (PAN): Locals in Samangan province while expressing their satisfaction over the current state of security underlined there was need for recruitment of more policemen with advanced equipments to further bolster the law and order in the province.
With the exception of Darah Sofapayen district, which sometime faces clashes and insecurity like situations, rests of the five districts and provincial capital have tight security, official said.

AYBAK (PAN): Officials and residents of Samangan have conflicting views in line with completion of development projects in the province.
Officials said rehabilitation projects were implemented in different parts of the province but rejecting officials’ view point, residents said development projects could not be carried out as per were expected by the locals,
Sadiqullah Aziz, a spokesman of Samangan governor told Pajhwok Afghan News major development have been done in the province, saying some areas of the province needed to be developed further.
