Hundreds of Ghor women vow to cast vote

 
FIROZKOH (Pajhwok): Hundreds of women in western Ghor province on Wednesday pledged to vote in large number in the runoff vote scheduled to take place on June 14.
Masooma Anwari, women affairs director, while speaking on the occasion told the gathering: “The women presented at today’s gathering pledged to come out of their houses and cast their vote in the second round of presidential polls.”
The June 14 had been celebrated worldwide as International Mother Day, she said, adding that Afghan women would throng to polling station to cast their vote to mark the day with enthusiasm.
The participation of women in the vote was imperative for country and nation’s building, she added. Women should be encouraged to cast their ballot without fear, he stressed.
Gul Firoz Ghafoori, provincial council member, said women comprised half of our society and their participation in the democratic exercise would be determining factor for the future of Afghanistan.
