FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) on Thursday confirmed receiving 65 complaints and said some of them, if found valid, could affect the result.
Regional IEC chief Mohammad Tawfiq Rasikh told Pajhwok Afghan News that 26 of the complaints were registered with the Badakhshan office and 30 by the presidential candidates in Kabul.
Most of the complaints were registered against Dr Abdullah Abdullah, he said, alleging that Wolesi Jirga member Maulvi Abdul Aziz forced people to vote for a specific candidate.
He added 10 of the complaints were had been included A category (which may affect the vote result) and 12 in B and C categories. Four complaints are about criminal cases to be addressed by the judiciary.
“Addressing the complaints and compiling the result will be completed within a week,” Rasikh said.
Badakhshan Independent Election Commission (IEC) chief Mohammad Rassoul Omar said important materials from 24 districts had reached the provincial IEC office.
“We did not face any problem or security threat in transferring the election materials. We will soon package and shift the materials to the IEC main office in Kabul,” Omar concluded.
