MEHTERLAM (Pajhwok):  Three persons were killed and five others wounded on Tuesday in a gun battle between two groups of Laghman lawmakers in Mehtarlam City, the provincial capital, witnesses said.
Wahidullah, an eye witness, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Eng. Ajmal Wafa and Yousaf Malangzai, both the lawmakers from Laghman, exchanged harsh words which developed into an armed clash. The bodyguards and supporters of the lawmakers opened fire on each other which caused several casualties.
Abdul Latif Qayumi, director civil hospital, said three dead bodies and five wounded were shifted to hospital. The wounded, he said were in serious condition.
Sarhadi Zwak, the spokesman for the acting governor, confirmed the incident but did not share details.
