KABUL (PAN): The Wolesi Jirga on Saturday set a one-month deadline for Information and Culture Minister Syed Makhdom Raheen to ban “anti-Islamic broadcasts” by TV channels.
Raheen was summoned to Saturday’s session for what lawmakers called vulgar and un-Islamic programmes aired by some TV channels.

KABUL (PAN): A day after two brazen Taliban attacks in Kabul and Zabul provinces, the Senate chairman on Tuesday asked the government to mount military pressure on the rebels alongside efforts to convince them into peace talks.

HERAT CITY/KABUL (PAN): A woman legislator from western Herat province has died along with two children in a road crash in neighbouring Iran, officials said on Monday.
Wolesi Jirga member Shahnaz Himmati was a killed late on Sunday evening when she was on her way from Karaj city to Tehran, a public representative from Herat, Khalilullah Shahidzada told Pajhwok Afghan News.
