Nimroz is located to the southwest of Afghanistan, sharing border with Iran and Pakistan. The province comprised six administrative units, including the provincial capital.
 
1 – Zaranj:

The southern Nimroz province is located along side the border with the Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan respectively to the west and south while Helmand province is situated to its east and Farah to its north.
Zaranj city is the capital of Nimroz province.
According to the latest survey, the number of its population stood 149,000 individuals with a total area is estimated at around 41,005 square kilometers. The demography of Nimroz is dominated by 61% Baloch, 27%, Pashtun and remaining is Tajik ethnicity.
In addition, Nimroz has nomad ethnicity as well.

 
ZARANJ (PAN): Six people, including five women, have been detained with 73 kilograms of opium in southwestern Nimroz province, police said on Monday.
Nimroz police chief, Gen. Mohammad Kabir Andarabi, said the detainees included an Iranian and four Afghan women. A Toyota car was also seized from the alleged traffickers.

 
ZARANJ/CHAGHCHARAN (PAN): Residents of western Ghor and southwestern Nimroz provinces say they lack access to clean drinking water, asking the authorities to supply them safe water through pipes and deep wells.
Ground water in Nimroz capital, Zaranj, is salty and the Helmand River that passes through the city has dried up.
