یک نامزد شورای ولایتی هرات از سوی افراد مسلح به قتل رسید

KABUL/MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): A provincial council (PC) candidate was gunned down along with his two sons by unknown assailants in western Herat province late on Monday, police said. Elsewhere, insurgents killed a 70-year-old mother of a local policeman in central Maidan Wardak province.
The candidate, Abdul Shakoor Rabat, was travelling in a car along with his two sons in the Guzara district on Monday evening, when two gunmen on a bike opened fire at them in the Nawgan area, killing Rabat and his two sons on the spot, police spokesman Col. Abdul Rauf Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said a brother of the candidate was injured in the attack and had been taken to hospital for treatment.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the gun attack, but police said they were investigating.
Guzara, which lies 10 kilometres south of Herat City, the provincial capital, was the scene of clashes between insurgents and Afghan and foreign forces in the recent past.
Elsewhere, insurgents shot dead a 70-year-old mother an Afghan Local Police (ALP) member in central Maidan Wardak province, officials said on Monday.
The incident took place last night in the Sese area of Syedabad district, the governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The rebels broke into the house of the ALP personnel, Mirza Khan, and shot dead his elderly mother and seriously injured his 14-year-old brother.  One of the attackers was killed and two others wounded when Khan opened fire at them, the official said.
