MAIDAN SHAHAR (Pajhwok): A comprehensive strategy has been devised to improve the security environment in the central province of Maidan Wardak -- a gateway to the capital Kabul.
In an exclusive interview with Pajhwok Afghan News, Governor Hayatullah Hayat said he believed before his appointment to the slot that Wardak, given its proximity to Kabul, would be a stable province.
But 45 days after his nomination, Hayat has concluded Wardak would be one of them if there were to be insecure provinces in Afghanistan. His assessment is based on briefings he has received so far.

MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): President’s Legal Advisor Dr. Abdul Ali Mohammadi on Tuesday said dispute between Kochi and Hazara tribes in central Maidan Wardak province had been politicized and elements fuelling the tenions would be exposed.
Mohammadi expressed these views in a gathering in Maidan Shahr, the provincial capital, which was attended by provincial council members, judicial and security officials.

MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): The Maidan Wardak governor on Sunday said some media outlets fueled tribal, religious and political differences through their reports.
Hayatullah Hayat was talking to media representatives at his office in Maidan Shahr, the capital of central Maidan Wardak province.
The governor said he would provide information to the people about his own activities and those of all the provincial departments by holding press conference each month.

MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): A public representative on Thursday accused an Afghan Local Police (ALP) commander of running a private jail and torturing people there in the Jalrez district of central Maidan Wardak province.
Sharifullah Hotak, a member of the provincial council, said the ALP commander, Karim, was involved in torturing local residents in his private jai, forcing many families to flee homes for other areas.
